FlowLac® 100
Premium spray-dried alpha-lactose monohydrate – Ph. Eur., USP-NF, JP, ChP
Spray-dried lactose, such as FlowLac®, is produced by spray-drying a fine-milled alpha-lactose monohydrate suspension, resulting in a porous, spherical morphology with smooth surface properties. This enhances flowability, making it ideal for direct compression in high-speed tableting operations. Unlike crystalline alpha-lactose monohydrate, spray-dried lactose monohydrate contains a certain amount of amorphous lactose, which enables plastic deformation during compaction and results in significantly improved tablet compactibility. The combination of amorphous and crystalline forms creates a synergistic effect, leading to superior binding properties and reduced tablet friability.

FlowLac® 100 is a standard spray-dried alpha-lactose monohydrate offering superior flowability and compactibility compared to other lactose grades. Its spherical particle morphology and balanced amorphous content provide excellent tableting performance, making it suitable for direct compression processes and formulations with poorly flowing active pharmaceutical ingredients.
